miracle: an event or action that apparently contradicts known scientific laws and is hence thought to be due to supernatural causes, especially to an act of God; a remarkable event or thing; a marvel. .

We long to experience and witness miracles. Our faith vacillates, at times waxing strong and at times weakening. Often it is nonexistent. When tried by a particular distressful event such as a death in the family, loss of employment, a wayward. family member, faith becomes a burden and is difficult to sustain since faith tells us that out of every evil will come good and to our perception nothing good can come out of what we have experienced. This is why we cry out for miracles, to shore up our faith and move forward with our lives. Why is it, then, that we do not see the miracles which surround us, are within our reach, are perceptible to our senses? How can one deny that the bírth of a child, the setting sun, a budding flower, the star-studded sky are not miracles? None of those could have happened by chance. Therefore there must be a First Principle who through supernatural causes brought about their existence, meaning then, that all created things are in themselves miracles. We must never lose sight of the fact that God has surrounded us with manifestations of Himself to strengthen our faith if we do but look beyond the surface appearances and see His creative and unconditional love in all of creation. Certainly therein lies a miracle.

The child must know that he is a miracle, that since the beginning of the world there hasn't been, and until the end of time there will not be, another child like him.

Children, to me, are the most perfect manifestations of God's love and His greatest miracle. Their existence necessitates a triune love between God, a man and a woman. They mirror God's unconditional love most perfect1y since they are born with it and entrust themselves completely to their elders. They are models of courage. 1 witness their courage every day when the nurses have to dress their painful wounds, when their parents leave them and they are separated from their family for the fírst time in their lives, when they undergo painful and debilitating chemotherapy and surgery. To me, children are proof of God's redemptive love since in caring for them we redeem ourselves.

People usually consider walking on water or thin air a miracle But ... every day we are engaged in a miracle whích we don't even recognize: a blue sky, whíte clouds, green ]caves, the black curious eyes of a child-our own two eyes. Afl is a miracle.
Thich Nhat Hanh

Then he took a little child, stood him in the midst, and putting his arms around him, said to them, "Whoever welcomes a child such as this for my sake welcomes me. And whoever welcomes me welcomes, not me, but Him who sent me".
Mark 9:36-37
