Christmas is once more upon us, a season of light and love, a time for reflection and thanksgiving. We celebrate a point in time when God entered into our company assumed our human nature with its frailties and limitations. In gratitude to Him we gather together, celebrate our love for one another and exchange gifts. Christmas is the preeminent time to forget our own needs and reach out to the other. The present world panorama is foreboding and threatening but all unpleasantness is forgotten during the paschal celebrations.

For us, it is a time to thank you) our benefactors, for your gracious and generous support of this work, for making it possible for us to care for the children seen on these pages, children whom society has forgotten. Our year has been full, perhaps too full. We have met with successes and failures. Some of our children could not be helped but they and their parents know that all that could be done for them was done. That is our gift to you, the knowledge that you have made a difference in the lives of children who had no other recourse, who had no where else to go, whose parents had lost hope of seeing their children well. In that exchange between you, us and them God is present.

Words cannot express my gratitude to you for your support. There are times when I succumb to feeling of discouragement and helplessness and maybe even self-pity but these feeling quickly evanesce when I walk into the nursery at night and here the quiet breathing of the infants or watch the children eating their meals in the dining room. There, the presence of God is palpable.
